Default finnaly got the car into a shop

so i took the car to a realy good german car mechanic in town, i have been having problems with the car losing power at 4k rpm and then getting power back at around 5k rpm, and its very noticable. so he ran the codes and exhaust gas temp sensor came up as a fault, i was curious what that would affect?, and he said that the car had more power than a stock 2000 S4 so he said maybe theres a problem with an aftermarket chip.

STFA, a bad EGT will affect your fuel/air mix which make your car run like POO, Kinda pricey to replace $300 each? from stealership, butI got some used ones from shokan for $100 each. Worked like a charm. Hope that helps.

All sorts of problems can arise.... try rubbing baby oil over the vacuum lines... it will evaporate really fast on air leaks. Also if you can pay the german car mechanic to do this they might give you a discount. Like theH said STFA.. plenty of info.

i have already done a leak test, but my primary concern is the egt sensor, if this actully does affect the a/f ratio then i understand why it only does it at full throttle, next thing is, where is it and how hard to get to is it? aka before or after the turbo?

With a failed EGT, the car will run like POOP, they need to be there, & they need to work. You can get things from misfires, surging, loss of power, & just poor running.
