Default Extended Warranty

Hello All:

I purchased a 2001 Audi S4 6 Speed from a 64 year old College professor last fall and it had 28k when I bought it and it was mint (still is),
however the factory warranty is expiring in April and I am considering an extended warranty; not because I can not "turn a wrench", but because I have heard some very interesting stories about the cost of repairs of owning a German auto...(electronics going) hence the reason for the consideration of an extended warranty.

Anyone out there have any thoughts or a good name of a third party warranty house? Many claim the Audi "Pre protection" program is a waste of time and money?
My Local Audi dealership claims a company called Warrantec (SP?) is what they use. Anyone know this company?

Owning German is "sick", [IMG][/IMG]but I do not want to get sick with my first repair bill if something I cannot deal with fails.

Thanks All

If you are considering any tuning then maybe you should invest the money into some parts! If you don't like suprises though, then yeah I would invest in a warranty. How much is the Audi one?

Default RE: Extended Warranty

The car is away for the winter and I just completed a Level 2 setup (Dahlback chip, Down pipes, exhuast and Koni Shocks. So for the moment, I think I spent enough! I kept the stock ECU for a quick swap if I need to go to the dealership. My Local dealership quoted me a price of: $2,500 for an additional two years of warranty.

Do you know anything about the Warrantec third party company Audi uses? Any other ideas about warranties?

Thanks Man

I've always heard bad things about aftermarket warranties. (they never cover anything) Most people recommend going with the Audi one.

Jestnomen:

That's what I verbalized in my previous posts...My local Audi dealership is using a third party warranty company called Warrantec.
There really is no such thing as an Audi extended warranty unless you buy used from the dealership...certified pre -owned and then and only then is the warranty extended beyond the 4 years 50,000 under Audi's protocals. I callled Audi Client Relations (1-800-822-2834) and they referred me back to my local dealership. Unless I am missing something, that's how my dealership educated me.
