Default Engine mounts

Hi there

The service manager at my local Audi dealer mentioned replacing engine mounts on a number of 2.7T engined cars. I got the impression this was not an unusual problem. It seems that heat from the turbos shortens the life of the mounts considerably and there is around eight hours labour to replace the mounts on both sides of the engine.

I've been following this forum for a while now and haven't seen this mentioned as a potential problem on these cars.

Anyone had to replace engine mounts? Is this seen as a common problem?

Thanks.

Tony

Default RE: Engine mounts

I was told by a local Audi dealer, that I have to replace the engine mounts on my 2000 A6 2.7T. They were talking about 18 hours of labor that are not covered under warranty, plus parts, looking at 2K easily.

I have done a bit of research and the parts run for about 276 dollars. Does anyone know if this is something I can replace myself or recommend anyone who can do the work at a reasonable price. Any feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The labor for replacing the engine mounts used to be over 30 hours because in the repair manual it says you have to remove the motor.
Now you really don't have to remove the motor, i can actually do both motor mounts in about an hour and a half. Audi caught on to this and lowered the times we get for replacing 2.7T engine mounts [:@]
Un-less your engine mounts are leaking pink fluid you do not need to change them, the reason the mechanic is upselling them is because its a gravy job, sorry thats just how it is.
See if you can find someone that will put them in for a couple of hours.
