cost of replacing a syncro
Yea so ........ i let my wife drive that car when i was gone on the west cost in seattle. So long story short sometimes it get a grind noise when i put the first gear in to fast, it i push it slow it is ok, so i am 90% sure it is the syncro. Can anyone tell me what the cost maybe or should i just drive it till it kills the gear and get a rebuilt or get it fix at audi? thanks ....... plus i can replace my clutch at the same time lol.

RE: cost of replacing a syncro
Well I'm not sure about the cost of repairing it, but I know that my first gear is similar to yours. And I don't really plan on paying to have just that fixed. I would just drive it till it goes, but I am not a certified mechanic either.

Well I had the same problem in first and second gear. Could barely get it into gear so I decided to get the issue fixed... I got the trans completely rebuilt. Synchronizer hub($527), rings($312), gaskets, seals,Repair kit, lever($75), Clutch kit($365), internal trans repair($850), removal and install($1350)
total...$3,776.51
It's not gonna be cheap

yeah that is pricey, i could jsut get a rebuilt for less then that, about 1300 and i was quoted 750 for install. so i am looking at just over 2 grand for the whole thing that way. guess my k04 upgrade will have to wait.
