Default Chipping the B7 S4 - save your money

I got the Revo ECU software back when I did my other mods. I chose Revo because of the option to flip it back to stock easily so I could save my warranty.

Today I flipped it back to stock before taking it to the dealer and drove the 30 miles to get there. I could feel absolutely zero difference in the power, low or high end.

So to anyone considering chipping their B7, I'd say to save the money and just do the exhaust and suspension. Then pray that a decent, affordable supercharger will come out some day.

I don't have experience with the other chips for this car, but I've seen very similar numbers posted for them so I assume the results would be the same.

Maybe the flash on your ecu didnt work. iv seen that a bunch of times, you end up with 2 stock modes. And realistically your right we arent talking the +60hp like on the B5 its only a little bit... you wouldnt notice it much

Also for the record revo is poop dont waste your time. I trust GIAC and youll see the biggest difference with a VAST 4.2 tune, they also have race gas tunes

Revo isn't exactly "poop." The 2.0 A3/A4 guys seem to swear by Revo, and from what I understand, Revo has a very good tune for the 2.0. They are definitely in the league with GIAC/APR/MTM for the newer Audi motors. I wouldn't personally use Revo for our 2.7 (don't know about the 4.2), because the other software available has been around much longer, but I think Revo is alright. [sm=shades.gif]

Hmmm interesting, I'd talk to revo about it and maybe try to get a reflash. Also what % tint do you have?

I think the tints are 30%? Definitely not legal in CA. I've already gotten one ticket and another cop that was cool and let me go, but warned me that they're obviously too dark. This pic makes them look darker than they really are, though. Even the windshield looks tinted.

Does anyone else have the Revo switcher? When I use it to flip the ECU back and forth is beeps very quickly (less than 2 seconds). I work a lot with computers and NOTHING ever goes that fast in terms of uploading/downloading software.

Only 30% and its illegal? Nevada's law is 35% on front windows with no other restrictions... well technically they require "two side mirrors if the rear window is tinted"

once again, 30% is darker than 35% so even whee you live it would be illegal on the front windows. Your laws are probably kinda lax due to the 12345678 degree heat. Where i live its nothing on the front, 35% or lighter on rear sides and back. I had to de-tint the front to pass state inspection so if i ever have the money im probably going to put 25% all around to darken it up a little
