RE: chipping
There really isnt any differenct in reliability in them in my experience. APR has a smoother power curve, but GIAC gives you more power. But yes, you also have to get better DV's (either 710N or forged, wahtever you please) and a better TBB (Samco or APR Bipipe, the kevlar boots have been known to unravel after about a year or so)

RE: chipping
I had APR - and loved it - until it (seemingly) crapped out on me - boost would stick at 6K and never go higher - at first when engine was hot, then intermitently (and seemingly somewhat randomly) - then nearly always - we tried everything ($$$) - and finally my mechanic convinced me to change out my chip - on a trial baisis - to a GIAC - problem solved completely...had it flashed to latest X program - and it is definatly a bit beafier then APR - but both are pretty close really. I liked the ability to go with stock on APR through cruise control. It became a ritual where i would always start out stock until engine warmed up - then flick it into "enhanced" mode. I would also sometimes go back to stock when other (lesser) vehicals were trying to drag me - to give them more of a sporting chance and make me work harder (good for improving skills etc)...but I am happy with the GIAC and it seems as if boost is a bit more robust (16-20psi depending...versus 14-17 perhaps)...of course my turbo is failing now and the boost is both rough (surging/sticking) and does not always hold well...I supose Ko4s and such will fix that eh?
