Chipped top speed of a B5 S4 (or any car)
I would like to hear what other owners have experienced with their cars. I have the APR ecu with a stock, valet, and "chip mode" or whatever you want to call it. I drive in stock mode most of the time because the gas mileage is better and the performance is sufficient. In stock mode I have gotten the car just over 150 mph (151-152 on GPS). In chip mode I can definately feel a difference in the acceleration down low but up high the difference is less noticeable if at all. Also, my top speed is unchanged. I am not at redline yet, to be honest I am not sure what the RPM is at this speed but there is room to go.
What are your experiences? How fast does your car go with, without mods? Obviously I have been reaching my cars aerodynamic top speed but this does not make sense because the way you increase the aerodynamic top speed is to increase power and with my ecu I should be gaining 60-70 hp according to APR. I also have an exhaust system, lightweight wheels, high flow filters, etc. (standard "stage 2" mods) Unfortunately they do not have an on off switch to test them. Curious to hear other people's reports.
Thanks,
Ed

RE: Chipped top speed of a B5 S4 (or any car)
I've only had mine up to a smidge over 135mph. I find it difficult to find a road to go faster.
I'd much rather get it on a track and see a higher speed.
At 135 she's pulling a little less than at 100, but still pulling easily. I think the probibility of going 165 is about the tops I've heard of.
Maybe a little more, maybe a little less, but around there.

a buddy of mine bought a yellow 2001 S4 and done few mods, like chip, exhaust and intake and one of my other friends was ridding with him and they were doing around 150 mph so that is lil' fast

Thanks for the responses guys. I appreciate it and it seems like my experiences are pretty much in line with others. It doesn't make sense that I am getting the same top end performance with different horsepower numbers. Does anyone know the whp numbers of a stock s4 and one running the 318 hp chip settings by APR?
Thanks,
Ed

I think all of the responses are in line with what I would expect.
I have merged onto highways pulling strongly to 120-125mph before letting up - this tells me there is definitely room for 150-155mph.
