Default can someone explain to me how to use the cam tensioner tool?

im about to finally do a valve cover gasket replacement so i went and ordered new cam adjuster seals to be on the safe side and a cam tensioner tool to make the swap easier BUT im not sure how to use it. im sure i could figure it out but i'd kinda like to have a good idea before i start taking my engine apart. any help?

hrm.. well.. do you have alldata?? alls you do is insert the tool in the adjuster your gettin ready to remove, and slowly crank it tight.. you will see the chain slowly slacken.. then you may actually have to turn the cam a bit to get enough play to where it is easy enough to take the bolts that hold the adjuster down( it think that it is 5mm allen bolts) and you should get about 1 inch of play which is just enough to clean all areas well and dry and then put the new seals and reseal with small amounts of silicone..

Not that this helps with how to use it but I was always told if those aren't leaking to leave them alone ... however if your feeling spicy by all means do the new ones.

thanks for the advice me and my car really appreciate it. im not 100% sure if they're leaking or not but only being like 2$ i ordered them just incase they were leaking so i could replace them too so i wont have to do this whole shinedig twice. if they're fine im just going to leave em alone. i kinda figured it was that easy of just tightening the tool down but i just want to be on the safe side. now only if it would just stop raining!

well i was in the same situation as you.. i thought that i would just do the valve cover gaskets and be happy, all oil leaks would be gone.. but no.. two days after cleaning and repairing valve cover gaskets oil was billowing out the fenders again.. so id do the cam adjuster seals as well, cause guess what.. my guess is they're leaking. .. id bet money...
