Can I disable ESP on my 2000 S4
Apparently the 2000 didn't come with an ESP switch. Is there an aftermarket solution or maybe a place I can tie into on the computer with my own switch. I just want to have some fun once in a while.

OK, after reading the Quattro IV writeup on Wikipedia, I have a better understanding of Quattro. So without ESP, I can spin the tires, but the Quattro will automatically divert power to wheels that aren't spinning until all 4 potentially? No traction control or reduction in engine power right?

from what ive read there is no esp of any kind, so you just have to worry about quattro....your not gonna spin tires with quattro though unless u have an insane amount of power...u might chirp them maybe...but your not gonna spin them in the dry, and only in the et if your tires are bald, cause hell thats whats quattro is all about keepin traction

Quattro is basically almost as good as 4 wheel drive (4x4). To spin the tires in with 4x4 you'll most likelyhave to have over 800ft/lbs of torque and over 600bhp at the wheels so...

RE: Can I disable ESP on my 2000 S4
My car is very inconsistant andI believe the ESP is the reason. I did about everything you can do without getting bigger turbo's. Hoping to run a 12.5 this summer but believe I need to disable the ESP to do so. I also have a workedtiptronic ( stall raised 400, level 10 shift kit, and giac tip chip) but don't believe its holding back my car at all. Any thoughts?

LOL! No traction control at all on early S4's.
I can spin all 4 tires, but I need a few inches of snow, or ice!
Well, if you have really crap tires, & don't like your clutch, then I can see the tires spinning.
The system will transfer torque, to the wheel that is spinning the least, F/R, L/R. Our cars can transfer almost 100% F/R
From what I have seen & read, there is no real way to shut off ESP 100%.
Why do you want to spin all the tires? It's really hard on the trans, & drive line, this is how you break expensive stuff. But if you must......
Go & buy a couple of gallons of bleach, put it on all 4 tires, & make sure there is a little puddle under each tire. start the car, put in D, press on the brake VERY HARD, then press on the gas, when the car is about to move, stand on the brake, then floor it, removing foot from the brake. It should light up all 4 in a HUGE plume of smoke.

if it had ESP then fuse #42 could be remove to disable it or you could fit a fused switch in its place, main issue with the quattro is the 4x4 distribution 60/40 if im right and that would take some serious modding
