The timing SVC involvs a lot more then just the belt (belt tensioners, both watter pumps, rockers rollers, etc...) so be ready to drop 1k -1.5k depending on where you go to get it done. Also the turbos are probably going to need replacement at about 80k, another big kick in the a$$. I bought min with 89k on it last year and i do a good bit of driving. My turbos were rebuilt at 85k, i have about 125k on it now and i might be needing to replace them soon. Other then that, the S4 will treat you like you treat it. Be nice to it and it will be nice to you. Enjoy the car, good luck!!!

Here's the FAQ- it's a 'Sticky' at the top of the forum.
If you get that S4... be sure to replace the TB, WP etc before 70K. about $1,000 like the above poster talked about. There is a lot of mainanence that could go with the car. CA's, TRE's, Mounts, wheel bearing, andTurbo's (which are the biggest and $$). The turbo's could blow at 60K or 150K or somewhere in between. For me it was 122,800ish. The upgrades are the best part tho!

Reading and searching/ researching is the best way to figure out this car and get all the info before buying the car.

Some say it's a love/hate relationship. I hate it when it's in the shop, but I am LOVING it right now!!!

btw, nice sig !!

goodluck!!

I second what the sweedstold you FAQ and search some most of the stuff here has been talk to death, but anything that pops up ask and we can point you in the right direction. I would say best thing to get is the bently manual for the car if you want to wrench your self. good luck with your find if you can get a 2002 bigger oil lines to turbo and no f hose. as for the miles that about average most people drive 15k year or so.

everything these guys are saying should put you in the right direction. assuming the car wasnt beat on too bad, at 60k you should have some time before you need to really start to worry about spending the big bucks. i got mine about 2 months ago with 96k and im going to be doing my timing belt this summer even though i dont exactly need to yet.

I am pretty the 01.5 has the upgraded oil lines and F-hose delete. 2002's are just left over 2001.5's

Thanx alot guys for all the help, yeah i knew that the timing belt change involved alot more than just the belt and i wasnt reallly sure of the cost until now. Thanx, and plus for me i think the guy im buying the car off of already had it done, which would be SICK! so i think ive decided to buy the car i dont think i can pass up a deal like this and ive always loved the car and am willingto do the work and spend the money on it. Another question....is it worth the $200 to have AUDI do the inspection that they do on the car? (if anyone knows what im talking about) would they be able to tell me if the Turbos are about to go soon?

i know that you have to pull the engine to even get to the turbos...so i dont even think they would even look at them b/c an engine pull costs alot more then $200

Dont go to the dealer ship they rip you a new one. There is also no way to to tell when your turbos are going to go. Just find an individual shop and they'll take a good gander at the car.
