Yeah KTR had a crazy setup a while back. They ran in to some issues, but I think, instead of taking the time to figure out all of the flaws, they just scrapped it. Keep in mind, this was back when K04's were starting to become the hot ****, so S4 knowledge isn't as extensive as it is now.

There are currently two single turbo S4 motors running. There is one in a couple quattro, which had a 35r on it. This ran a fairly tweaked K03 file as its ECU. Granted it wasn't your plain old K03 fueling setup, this kit put down 520whp and ran an 11.0X at 3100 lbs.

There is another more secretive single setup that is run by a guy in Florida. He doesn't post on any forums, but I have heard through the grapevine that he has been running a single setup successfully for the past year.

There is a third setup that has everyone installed and has cranked over, but he has yet to get any tune for it. So it isn't exactly running.

My setup, has been in the making for the past 3 months or so as one of my K04's was blown. I opted to go a different route, with the hopes that a friend and myself could eventually distribute a single turbo kit to the audi enthusiasts.

We opted to go for a large turbo, which had great spool characteristics on even smaller displacement motors. The only drawback to the single setup, is the lack of manifolds, and general "kit", which we plan to fill that gap.

Aside from the cost of building the head and building the bottom end, a single turbo kit will be about as cheap as a K04 kit. Without building the motor you can effectively run a GT35r as your turbo, run a decent tune, and put down low 500whp all for the cost of a K04 setup, which might yield you 400whp. Keep in mind the spool characteristics of a GT35r are going to be great, as it is not a very large turbo and you are know only spooling one.

Another added benefit is the ease of swapping out turbos. As long as you run a T4 flange on the manifold (which is what my setup/kit will entail) then you can swap upgrade to larger turbos in a matter of minutes, as you won't have to pull the motor.

I did some other basic modifications while my car been down, such as a lightweight battery kit and a new set of superleggera wheels.

I intend to run a set of lightweight Corbeau seats, and hopefully get the cars weight to 3100 even.

The pictures I posted up on page 1 were some of the things that were waiting to go on the car.

This is what the car looked like a little while ago.

When the manifolds come back, I'll take some pictures with them and the wastegate.

You have to custom fab one... I am planning on doing a single turbo setup when my K03's die. I have a guy already helping me design the setup as well. I will be the ONLY single turbo setup using a TIP tranny in the WORLD! HAHA... THen once I blow my tip tranny up it's getting a 6 spd.

To be honest, if you plan on going 6 speed. You are better off selling your current auto tranny s4 and buying a new one. It will run you about 2 arms, 1 leg and a foot to convert a tip to a tranny. And with the value of S4's getting lower and lower, financially it makes more sense. Or in this case, cents.

Actually it's not as expensive as most think. Blue_S4 is doing it for about $3500 or so.
