Hey, does anyone out there know what the stock replacement ballast would be for a 2000 s4? I've done the search and it's coming up with either D1S, D2S or H7 and I don't know what the difference is. Also, has anyone purchased a ballast from visionbulbs.com that fit as a direct replacement? Thanks.

 

I had to replace the ballast on my 2000 S4 when I first got it. The part they sent me to replace it was the same part used in the A4 w/HIDsof the same generation. I'm pretty that's a DS2 designation. I think H7 is the bulb.

I have gotten a few light systems from them and they know there H.I.D lights

 

D2S is the bulb, not the ballast. It's a special ballast for the B5, that bolts to the bottom of the headlight housing. I know it's made by Valeo

 

the b6 a4 ballasts are the same too

 

When I was trying to find a ballast for mine I was told that the a6 and the a4 ones were different. I may have been misinformed, I don't see why Audi would do that as it would involve more expense in getting different ones.

 

i have D2S bulbs for sale... CHEAP!!! if anyone needs some

$30 per pair, shipped! (used for less than 20 hours!)

By the way... dumb question, but does anyone know what usually goes wrong with the ballast. Is it something where i can take it apart replace a fuse or something?
