First problem found, the shift linkage was missing a metal tab see pic, whoever worked on it last left it out.

So I changed out the bad part and everything was working better than ever. Then later that day I could not put my car in 2nd gear, it was all jambed up. So I decided to change the UUC shifter out for the stock shifter. I was amazed at the poor fitment of the UUC versus the stocker. So the stocker went back in. However it still had no second, would not engage. So I took the tranny out. I guess the length of time with the messed up linkage and the crappy shifter took its toll.

Anyone familiar with the dissasembly of these trannys? Any tips or tricks? I only want to take it apart enough to fix the linkage.

Happy joy, this tranny is a chore for teardown. I found the 1-2 shift collar bound up. I ordered a new one, it costs $600, ouch! I also ordered new synchros, they are over $100 a piece and I need 6, double ouch. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't change them with 90k miles on the car. Here are some pics of it apart for your enjoyment.

All back together now. It is running like a champ. I upgraded to a new Stage 2 AWE clutch and new synchros in the trans.

This poor workmanship on the linkage was all done by NEW DIMENSIONS in SANTA CLARA, CA [:@]
