b5 s4 and audi allroad 2.7t questions
Ok besides the obvious facts, size, allroad being a wagon and rides a lot higher and weighs more. My buddy has an allraod and swears it has the same braking system, same quality leather so forth and so on.
I was wondering if the brake system is the same? I guess my big question about the s4 and the allroad is, is the braking system the same and after sitting in his car I dont feel like the quality of the leather is the same. What is the price difference between a new 2002 b5 s4 and an allroad?
I know these are kinda weird questions, but I thought I would throw it out there for some help.

From the Model Guides on AudiWorld, they appear to have the same brakes.
Can only comment on the allroad interior, it's very nice. We traded our '01 AR for an '02 S6. I would say the S6 nicer but that's mainly because of the sport seats. The leather appears to be better quality as well but the AR was fine. The S6 also has a fancy suede headliner and pilars. The S4 probably has the sport seats.
The '02 S4 shares the same 250 hp engine with the allroad. It'll be a little quicker and stop a little better because it's lighter, but not a whole lot. The S4 got a significant upgrade in '04 when they went to the 340 hp 4.2 V-8. That's what our S6 has and it's a rocket.
KBB values for an '02 S4 Avant and an allroad are about the same, around $25k (assumes private party sale, 40k miles, good condition, no options like nav, etc). A S4 sedan will be less. An S6 like ours is significantly higher, $30k for higher miles and no warranty, up to $40k for low miles and CPO.

scarzie probably knows better than me. Why is the S4 THAT much faster? Same engine, right? You talking sedan or Avant, or doesn't it make a difference? I didn't think it was THAT much lighter than the allroad, but maybe it is?
If you can get the 2.7T S4 faster than my S6 or a S4 4.2 for only $1-2k, that's a pretty good investment. The S6 is a rocket for a BIG station wagon. I know if you sunk BIG $$$ into the 2.7T S4 you could make it REALLY fast.
Enlighten us scarzie!

RE: b5 s4 and audi allroad 2.7t questions
Well i know that u r gonna feel more torque with the s4 than the allroad for sure, due to the lesser weight. also, i believe that stock, the s4 is tuned slightly more in order for it to give faster acceleration etc. im not sure what the weight is but it has to be much heavier, because the stock 0-60 on an s4 is between 5.4 and 5.6, and for the allroad its 7.2, which is a big difference in my book. I mean If you plan to ship it and such it will be comparable to an s4, but then you chip the s4 and put an exhasut in it and you are in a whole other league. Speed, go s4, and im not sure how much bigger the allroad is (thought it was basedo f of the a6 chassis) if it is, that would have more room for hauling.

my mistake, that 0-60 or the allroad is based off of the later v8, it is actually 7.7***
