b5 2nd gear shifting problems: from short shifter?
think this may be a short shifter-related problem. i think it has an APR short throw shifter. it has been tuffer to get out or in 2nd gear since i bought the car. it is not notchy, nor grinding of gears at all. just very tight, and cannot sqweeze into or out of 2nd as easy as the other gears. today for some reason it got worse, and it will go into gear normal, but is very very hard to get out of 2nd gear. again, it is not notchy, or grinding at all. just tighter than ever to get out. is this a shifter related problem? maybe missalignment of the short shifter? or is it internal tranny? it doesnt feel like transmission gear change problem. thanks,

Yeah... by the way you are describing the problem, it definitely sounds like a short shifter misalignment. Search for a good write-up on SS installation and reset the null point of the shifter. I've never heard of an APR SS, so I don't think it's APR.
Possible SS for the B5 S4 (not complete list):
Tanoga
Neuspeed
B&M
"ToyGuy"
I think UUC used to make one, too.
