Default Anyone looking for a louder turbo?

If theres anyone out there looking to make a louder turbo, i've got a trick for you that works. My dad's been a mechanic for near 30 years now and he told me about a little trick they would do to turbo's back in the 70's and 80's that would make them really loud. Granted, he lived in South Florida so it was 99% Cubans that wanted this done to their trans-ams. What they did was take out the blade of the turbo and drilled 2 REALLY tiny holes in 2 blades opposite eachother of the fan in the turbo.

Now, I wouldn't suggest this to anyone, ever. But for any youngster that wants a louder turbo without spending any money to do it (maybe some money to fix it later), than this is the way to go.

If there's still anyone that still does this, let me know. Maybe the risk's are a little lower than I think. Maybe it'll be the new cool thing to do, because I'm a trend setter... probably not. I'll need to post this on a honda forum [:'(]. I'm sure if they all knew about this, it would start a FRENZY. gay civics...

lol....i'd hate to sacrafice the boost for louder turbo's. punching your pre-cats works wonders and is much easier. I'd be real concerned with balancing regardless but interesting none the less.

Interestingly enough, you don't lose much, if any, boost at all. The holes are drilled on the exhaust side of the blade. It's a very interesting concept. I would be worried about the balacing problems too, with the rpm's the blades reach.

Haha i agree! decrease relayability and maybe performance too just for sound? Piggie pipes will give you more power, faster and louder spooling, and louder exhaust. Not to mention reaching the turbos would call for pulling the motor unless your freaking jesus.

I know, it is rediculous. I'd never do it. It's just an interesting thought. If you ever had a piece of **** car and wanted to see what it would do, why not.
