Question 2008 S6 Auction - Thoughts?

Here's the auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3D%26_fvi%3D1

It's been a while since I've bought a used car, from a dealer or otherwise. They're saying that the car was 85K new. According to Edmunds, if you add all the options, you end up with about $84,405, so I guess that's 85K.

Also, this is not an Audi dealer (the home page doesn't mention Audi), and they're from out of state. My point is that they're not Audi experts and this is, of course, not a Certified used car.

What are your thoughs on this auction, the dealer, and of course the price? Also, is there any way to confirm what packages are installed on the car?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

You can tell it has the cold weather package from the heated seats and slot in the trunk for skis to slide through (back center of the rear seats). Nav is obvious. Its still under factory warranty and I think you can take it to a dealership and get an extended, which i would recommend. They probably picked it up off an auction and if it was sitting on an Audi lot it would easily be marked up another 5-10 grand.

Call the dealer and have them run the VIN. Get all of the maintenance records for previous work on the car. If you can find out which dealer had been servicing this S6, you'll get all of the records. If not, then any Audi dealership should be able to tell you all repairs done under warranty by running the VIN.

Either way, all repairs on the car should be under warranty unless it was abused. You should have no problem finding service history.

Guys, thanks so much for the replies.

Last question: is this a "good" (and by good I mean fairly reliable) car for a daily driver, or should I step down to an A6? I tend to drive cars until the wheels fall off, not from abuse, but from age, heh.

Thanks again for the help and advice!

You should try to see this car in person first so you can inspect it for having potentially been in a accident. Assuming the V10 Engine is reliable the only draw back using this as a daily driver is the poor gas mileage you'll get compared to a A6 V-6. But this will be a lot faster

Last question:

Is there a list or resource that you all can point me to that explains/demonstrates/lists the differences between the 2007 and 2008 S6? If there's not much of a difference, I have a line on an 07 with less mileage.

edit: Looks like the only things missing are lane departure (lame) and standard satellite radio: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com.../2008-Audi-S6/

Neither of which I will miss.

Nice car!
I don't know, some of their feedback is a little shady.
Even some of the positive feedback messages have some negative comments.

Like its been said, try to get the history of the vehicle and how they acquired it.
