the best part of this is, all these posts, to answer a simple question, that never should have been asked.
who cares if you can in theory beat him?
just go fricking race him! then tell us how it went. does that make sense? i mean, geez we could make up a whole chart, "if there in only 1 person in each car, and half a tank of gas.....blah blah blah....."

point is.....just go RACE!
THEN tell us about it, win or lose, it doesnt matter, JUST DO IT!

and no more stupid questions.....
"gee guys, if i have an 1/8 tank of 93 octane, and i pull up next to a viper with a full tank, driver and passenger can i beat him?......."
PLEASE! stop

No, it's not. Maybe in the "Racing / Recreational" forums, but not here.

Frankly, there isn't any person here that is capable of predicting the outcome this street race between these two cars. The variables are infinite. We could post every scenario until our fingers fall off and maybe come up with a close assumption, but that's all it is, an assumption!

So basically people should just race and find out, rather than coming here and hoping to 'hear what they want to hear'.
Because nothing we say will affect the outcome, regardless!

96 was the first year for OBD2. 95 is one of the best years for the LT1 because it has the vented opti-spark ignition, and you can remove the cats and not get a check engine light because of the OBD1 computer it has. They don't need computer tuning with minor bolt ons but they respond good to mods. Those motors are choked off from the factory. The LT1 is 285 hp. The car weighs less than your S4 I'd bet but not by much.

With a cam, long tube headers, 3" off road y-pipe and a dump, gears, and tires, that Z can run 12's all day. If he's stock you should have a good run. If he's got mods, you might be surprised. He won't spin at 50 mph with an auto unless you run him on a wet road.

I'd say go from a dig to a 1/4 mile. See what happens and let us know. I'm anxious to hear the results. The LT1 isn't a bad motor for a GM, my friend's 95 LT1 auto runs 11.30's on motor and mid 10's on spray. He is the one who got me into LT1 F-Body's and showed me their potential.
