Talking 1992 audi s4 5 speed

whats goin on guys. just sold my 1999 audi A6 2.8 to a neighbor. didnt really want to, but she threw me an offer i couldnt and shouldnt refuse.. $6,500. i bought the car for $7,000 in 2005 of a family member.

anyway... thread is about a local guy selling his 1992 audi s4 5 speed car.

normally, i'd rub it off my shoulder and keep searching for a car but i fell in love with this car.

as i read about it, i noticed its a 2.2t engine, 5 speed, quattro (i think back then it was AWD instead of quattro) larger car than the newer a4 / s4, and its black with grey leather interior.

he says he just changed the clutch, timing belts (throwing an extra clutch in the deal, extra set of timing belts too), and a tune up with a new battery, oil and oil filter, with an air filter.

my question is, is this a good car? and if it is, is it worth the $3,000? and what kind of mod's does a car at this age have?

im pretty sure over the past 15+ years, there have been many mods for it, but does anyone KNOW this car?

i mean, honestly, its a step up from the 2.8 a6 (automatic --- yeah i know, wife didnt know how to drive stick when i got it...)

anyway ill be around looking at replies.

These are wonderful cars, and there are still plenty of mods available for them from mild to wild (try www.034motorsport.com). The C4 chassis S4 became the S6 in '94 or '95 due to the introduction of the new B5 chassis A4/S4. The 20valve 5cyl is an amazing engine and is capable of 4-500hp with readily available mods. @ $3000, if the car is in good shape, then it's a steal, these things can still fetch upwards of $6-7k when well maintained and are a blast to drive without drawing too much attention to yourself.

if you want some real answers to your questions about the car, go to quattroworld.com when you get there go to the UrS4 UrS6 car section. there you will meet the absolute experts on that model car...I know, i own one myself......from that site you can be directed to others, but the guys you meet there are members elsewhere....You got alot of homework to do, so get cracking......and welcome to the world of the UrS

I have a 1992 audi s4. I have put the timing marks in place for the crank shaft, the camshaft and the CMP sensor. Can you time this car with a timing light?

No timing light is involved in the timing belt replacement on that car. If you didn't get the marks right you will run the valves into the pistons
