Default 06 S4 or Porsche Cayman

I know it might be a strange question, but I am interested in feel and performance only.

Top Gear looked down on the Cayman. Wondering what all of you think of the S4. Try to be unbiased.

IMO they are so totally different, that it just depends on what type of car you want....not really much that you can compare because they are such different types of cars.

From what I have read the Cayam is a great handling sports car....and I have always like Porches....
The s4 is fantastic...but more like a sports gt, heavier, not as nimble....but very practicle...plenty of space for stuff....and fun on the track...although it does understeer quite a bit...but great interior, really comfortable, and refined...and fast...

both are great...and totally different...

I agree

If you want more of a really fast nimble car, go for the cayman. If you want a more practical yet still fast car go with the s

Excellent posts. That is the kind of information I was looking for. The understeer is a big drawback for me. Top Gear said the RS4 was biblical and they felt the new M3 was not going to come close to it. Besides HP what are the performance differences from the S and RS?

Well, between the S4 and the RS4 , those are different animals as well. The RS4 has the carbon fiber refined interior, different gearbox, and the suspension is tweaked quite differently. it is going to jump you about 30 gs as well.

This is something i have thought about to. If you are only going to have one car and its going to be a daily driver id say an S4. but if u are getting this just for fun i would say go for the Porsche because sorry to say but that thing is one fine machine. I wouldnt worry about Top Gear... They seem to hate everything at first but he even had fun at the end with the cayman.

True, he did have fun with it in the end. I drove the 05 S4 the other night. The nicest car I have ever had was a G35 Sedan.

When I started moving in the S4 I felt my skin get goosebumps. The acceleration made the G35 seem like my Toyota Corolla. The noise from that V8 was unlike anything I ever heard. I am really tempted to buy it just on that fact. The Porsche sounds nice but not like the V8.

Like they said above - the cars are hard to compare. One thing that the S4 has that the Cayman doesn't is a history. You know what a used S4 goes for. The used Cayman market is not really up and running. Will they hold their value or will yu take a bath if you decide to make a change? I guess you can look at the way used boxsters sell, but again, a weird comparison.

feel and performance only
This one line makes it a no-brainer. The feel and response of the Cayman S is in an entirely different league than the S4, even if both cars aren't too far apart in overall performance.
