I have 2005 S4 cabriolet with an annoying whine during cold starts. It lasts a few minutes. The rpm range is about 1000 rpm and 1600 rpm where it whines. I was wondering what a SAI failure sounds. I not throwing any codes.

Where is the SAI motor, can I disconnect the pump to check if this is the source of the whine?

I see that manual transmissions Audi's don't have this pump, can i delete this system?

If this is the problem, where can I get one besides the dealership? Cost?

 

I get the same whining noise on my Audi s4. It goes away after you driven for a little bit. Let me know if there is a fix. I have a manual transmission.

 

its just the rubber of one of the belts. the belt expands when cold, and as it eventually gets warmed up it will go back to down to size. dont worry about it

 

Is there anything i can do? Replace the belt, how easy is it? You think belt dressing would quiet it down?
