'05 S4 Cab wet braking
Hey all,
Noob to the forum here. 2 weeks and 1500 miles into ownership of new '05 S4 cabriolet, which I am enjoying mightily. Except...
Drove in a rainstorm yesterday for the first time. Came around a corner, had to brake for a truck, hit pedal and....nothing.....nothing......PANICKING.....then brakes grab. Probably 50 feet or so before rotors dried and grabbed, very uncomfortable time. (Happened couple more times later in day, at least then I was prepared). I haven't had this issue with any car in 20 years?
Anyone else experience this? It's my first Audi since my old school '86 5000S, but I'd be shocked if this is typical. But if it is, is there a fix?
TIA, Mike

RE: '05 S4 Cab wet braking
Never liked the brakes on the S4 (particularly after driving Porsches for 12 years). They take time to grab, then they take a death grip on the rotors.
Noticed the same pb you did with wet driving. All cars do that but the Audi is a bit worse, probably because of above-mentioned issue . I tend to gently tap the brakes periodically when driving in rain.
Also noticed the rotors rust overnight. Dealer says it's normal, but I maintain it should not be so. Otherwise, car is a blast, as you know...

I think rotors rusting is fine. My grand cherokee does it when i wash my car. When I pull it back into the garage, all the rust is gone. I'm assuming the calipers take it all off after hitting the brake for a few seconds.
