0-60

0-60
I recently bought an '02 S4, and decided to test the 0-60 time (6.5sec for an auto, right?) myself. With just myself and a 3/4 tank of gas, I could not get it under 7.4 seconds... It just feels like a really really long time before the turbos kick in at ~3000rpm, and in my opinion, the car keeps the gear in 1st waaay past the torque curve, into redline. Maybe the best 0-60 is done by tiptroniccing it into 2nd earlier? Any suggestions?

How can you be a "bad driver" in an automatic? It's just flooring it, no? I can see that if you're not proficient with a stick, the shifting can influence your times.
Also, the 1st to 2nd shift at 6000+ rpm is really "smooth", I had expected a shiftprogram that would just switch gears quite hard.
(yes this is an S4)

OK, so how would I go about testing all this? I used to own a Ford where _everything_ in the engine compartment is easily accessible. swapping plugs would take me 15 minutes!
How do I test for faulty O2 sensors? I don't see the MIL on. Not even a clue how to start checking boost lines or diverter valves.
