Default Pull the trigger and you won't be sorry!

I have owened two Audi S4's and now own and RS6. The RS line is the way to go. As far as the service department, they are five star. My sister owns a BMW and they are good but snotty, and so is the BMWdealer here in Hawaii. The Audi dealer is awesome. Audis DRC (Dynamic Ride Control) is awesome but when it wears out and it will it is very costly. However there is one company that makes an extremely high quality coilover kit for the audis. Custom valving specifically for the chassis and custom spring rates for exactly the kind of driving you do. Still spendy but at a fraction of the cost of rep;acing the DRC. The company is Stasis Engineering in California.

I love my RS6 and have done work on it my self. It is German engineering at its finest. Nothing is complicated and is easy to work on. I have also put some gofast goodies on it and will continue to do that. If you like doing that kinda stuff.

I have chipped it with APR, put Milltek exhaust on it and DPE 20" wheels. if you need any info I will try to help you out. Companies, info on the car etc.

The engine/drivetrain are amazing. The car is extremely easy to drive fast, but it is also perfectly happy to cruise around town. The throttle/power delivery do make you drive faster than normal.

I have already put 1200 miles on the car, and 800 of that was a trip from LA to San Francisco and back. This car loves the open road! It was great on the highway, and if I kept the speed under 80, I got over 25 MPG.

As far as service goes, I have not had to have anything major done yet. I did take it in to have the oil checked after I burned a quart in 600 miles. The service manager dropped what he was doing, scanned the ECU to make sure it was all good. They do burn a little oil, which is normal on an engine like this on break-in. They even washed the car for me free of charge. We also just had LoJack and the paint protection service applied and the car was ready when they said it would be, and they actually called to tell me it was ready. I'm used to having to hound the service department for an update, so that was a welcome surprise.

My only complaint, and I think it's my driving style, is that the car does not like a hard powershift from 1st to 2nd, or 2nd to 3rd. If you engage the clutch too quickly, the power is pulled for a couple of seconds and then fed back in, just like traction control.

Other than that, the car is ultra-quiet on road, handles like it is on rails. It will put a smile on your face every time you drive it. And be careful, if you test drive one, the chances of driving home in one is extremely high.

Scott,
What dealership did you get yours from? I'm from Socal and I am also looking to get an RS4. BTW, does the RS4 have a start engine button? Thanks.

Pacific Audi, ask for Julio, Internet Sales Manager. He's a great guy and very easy to work with. Audi was having a special the weekend I was there and they were taking anywhere from 5000-9000 (A8's) right off the sticker, or the 2.9% financing deal.

A quick search of their site shows that they have a couple and a convertible in stock.

Also, RS4's in the U.S. don't get the start button... we get cup holders instead. :-(
The Euro models get the flat bottom steering wheel and the starter button.

It's referred to as ESP in my RS6 and the R8 calls it the ESP/ASR - Electronic stability program/Anti Slip Regulation

I just call it the "Fun Button". When the little yellow car with skid marks icon is lit up, it's fun time!
Sorry for the late reply on this, I've been out of the country for a while.

Amen! Turning off the ESP completely changes the car completely! No more electronic nanny pulling timing/fuel on hard up-shifts. I actually got the car to spin the tires just a little going into 2nd. Now that is a cool sound. :-)

Thanks again for the tip!

My car is no where near as expensive as an Rs4 but it is an audi and at 121000 miles drives like a dream. the great thing about an audi is that they all drive like sports cars. I have regular kumho street tires on my car and when it snows I barely notice it, the AWD is great. I haven't had mine very long but I know they can be driven sometimes up to 400,000 miles with little problem. I got hit in the rear end by a truck a week ago and you can barely see they damage though they hit me hard enough to knock my subwoofer box across the trunk. When driving in the snow and trying to protect a newborn i couldn't think of a better car company.

25 mpg on an RS4?? I thought the window sticker says "13/20 mpg" on the highway "at best" on these cars?

I still haven't pulled the trigger yet. With the prices of the M3s dropping, I have started to consider the '09 M3 coupe.

I still love the RS4 though. I have seen new ones from a couple of dealerships priced in the mid 60Ks now. So tempted!

My Charger has the ESP button, but when you disengage it you get the "Mr. Squiggles" light on the dash (slippery when wet road sign image). It's the first button I hit after the key gets turned (thus my name and avitar).

I love the extra safety the ESP systems give us, but thank the engineers they allow us to turn them off when we want to have fun.
