Back to the original topic of the hacked road signs, it's apparently quite easy to do. These incidents started after the info on how to hack them was posted on digg. Here's the link of how it's done.

i liked the one that said something along the lines of "I got fired today so dont expect any help getting home from me"... Not exactly hacked, but a disgruntled employee getting his last laugh on the way out the door.
