Can I leave my xbox standing up-right? Or will it screw up my system? I always left it sitting horizontal but now have moved it

the system won't be affected but it might scratch your disks. the discs aren't balanced like tires lol.

It only scratches if you move it while it's on.

It's designed to work both ways. As already mentioned the chance of the disc scratching while the console is vertical are much higher than if it were horizontal, however, this risk is basically null if you don't plan on moving it. I've had mine upright for two years now and everything is fine. Furthermore, if you shake your xbox ever you'll hear a rattling sound - this is a little ball bearing that determines the orientation of the xbox, i.e. vertical or horizontal. Thus it was implemented to use the xbox in either way.

Haha sorry i just got back from class.

thanks for all the great info guys. honestly i've been bugging a little about the xbox. i frequently break controllers so i took a break from it for a couple of weeks. i moved the xbox and heard that it wasn't good to stand it up.

i dont take games THAT seriously, i play tiger woods and just hurl the controller when i miss MONEY putts that should be going in. Only putts that sit on the edge of the cup really..... and the skill exercises after tournaments.......and.....call of duty when i don't dominate the game online

i read some where that it shortens the life of the 360 if its used vertically... dont ask me how.. i think it would be better since the hard drive would be level and not on its side... but the game disks would probly get f'd up easier

^it does shorten the life a little... i think its due to the fact it cools better on its side
