Kind of a tangent thought... I read somewhere that the US Interstate Highway system was designed to accomodate speeds up to 250mph (assuming the weather, road surface, vehicle, and driver arecapable) - does anyone know if that's true, or just as made-up as the bit about how supposedly every sixth mile of the Interstate is straight and level so as to be used as an emergency landing airstrip?

haha omg based on the car you drive? ok so a really really rich kid with a lambo whos 18 should be allowed to go, lets say, 125? ha!...
speed limits arent only set in place to obviously control speed but also sets a medium at which cars are most efficient. hence the whole 55-65 when cars are more efficient. cruising at 90-100 all day will lower gas mileage and increase fatal car accidents.
