So, I have my new S4... it needs a timing belt upgrade. NO BIGGIE!

I take it to this new shop in San Mateo. Turns out, they were charging me less for the job (which I am totally down for).

I take it in and leave it overnight.

The next day, they fix the timing belt, a CV boot, and do an oil change for $1500. Cool, I say... I can take my car and have fun with it now. He then lets me know of another issue, about a coolant leak. He tells me something about the intake manifold and crap and shows me that this one part is wet. Im thinking, Stage 1 leak type ****... its just wet. He tells me the job would cost $900 for labor and like $50 for the part, an o-ring. Im thinking I wont need to change it for days. I drive it back to my work and leave it there.

As I leave at 9:30. I see a god damned stream of fluid coming from my car... Im almost out of coolant! WTF!!!

I drove this car before I took it to these guys, no coolant leak what so ever. I drove the car through the Santa Cruz mountains before I took it in, NO COOLANT LEAK!

What do you guys think? Im inclined to think they fucked something up.

They probably didnt put hose back on right. id take it back tell them, or just take it to another mechanic. but true to dat WTF.

 

sounds like either its a scam or they didn't connect a hose or sumthin. reason why its sounds scammish is cause of them charging you less. makes it seem like they're the good guys and then they mess some of ur **** up and end up profiting from it. could jus me being paranoid tho cuase shops have done this to me in the past.

On real tv saw a shop that would just start smashin stuff under the hood
and then fix it and charge the people

 

yup seen that quite a few time myself. so many places are crooked. they either f*ck ur car up and then tell you what a great deal they have for you to fix it or they tell you sumthin needs replacing, which sometimes doesn't, and they never replace it. especially jiffy lube. NEVER go there.

 

i say put a vid cam under the hood somewhere and take it back there to get fixed
