so, how many generations after your ancestors paddled their butts out to the islands did it take before they were considered Fillipino? it's got to start somewhere.

eh???
man is a full moon tonight? seriously.

what are u talking about?

* i guess youd call urself "filipino" if you were born there & / or are a citizen of that country.

* it wouldve started when that country was "officially declared a country"
you cant say im "Filipino" if the Phillipines didnt exist.
now if u say "asian / pacific islander or Anglo or Latino - whatever.." thats something else.

what my post meant was that just bec u state ur ethnic heritage
doesnt neccesarily identify your "nationality"

I dont have to "consider" myself American bec im of Filipino decent. I AM AMERICAN. period.

it wouldnt matter how many generations u went back.
ethnic heritage & nationality are totally different things.

I guess i look at itfrom acontinental perspective rather than a governmental borderedone. That, and how long does it take that land to "become" where you're from? Take Great Brittain for example (more islands). A bunch of European folks got on boats and went to some islands. They didn't sprout up from the ground, they traveled there. So, how are they Brittish, or even more specific, English, Welch, Scottish....sounds to me like they are just European Whitey that wanted to live off of the main land (kinda like the Florida Keys are still just Florida). And, don't get started on global domination. everyone has a bit of everyone if you look back through historic empires, ie. the Spanish didn't get that fantastic golden skin by sun alone, and that raven hair- straight up Moorish decent but they still call themselves Spaniards. Basically, if a guy wants to call himself American because he doesn't care to look any farther than 4 generations living on a land mass that so happens to be called America, so be it.
