Also, there's a pretty thorough A4 "Newbie" Guide. The B5 A4's really the only Audi you'll find in that price range so you should look for guide and go from there.

 

For christs sake no. No kid under the age of 21 should own an S4. You think the maintenance on an A4 is bad, you can't afford an S4 buddy, even if you made 2k a month. Plus you will run it off the road into a ditch.
If you want to buy a "quick" first car start with a V6 camaro or something. You could pick those up for 3k. Once you get the hang of driving a rear wheel drive car, an all wheel drive car will come naturally.
