what kind of gas for 96 2.8 12v

i am wondering if i have to get premium 93 octane on my 96. 2.8 or can i use 87 or 89 on it. i dont even know the compression on this engine. any help.

compression is 10.3:1....go with minimum 91 octane. 87 is no good, 89 is not worth the 10 cents/gal you save...

If you use a lower octane gas.. you can cause early detonation which results in pinging.. higher compression engine needs higher octane to avoid the compression igniting the gas prematurely
