My dad's got a pretty bada$$$ smith & wesson in his collection. WOn't let me try it out though....

 

I had a Raging Bull in .454 but I sold it to fund other projects. Hell of a gun but revolvers aren't really my thing.

And I don't mind ultra-compact real guns, Like the Glock 33 and junk, or the STI Escorts and all those micro 1911 variants, but what I can't stand is when people get those guns you can only wrap two fingers around in .25 or .32 and they expect to: 1. accurately hit someone with it and 2. do enough damage with it to fend of their attacker.

Seriously, carry a real gun in nothing less than 9mm. .40 is better, .357 Sig is my personal favorite and .45 in case you run into a bear with a machine gun holding a bus full of Playboy models hostage.

 

I like .44 Special or .45 Colt.

 

Odd. As I mentioned before I ran a similar test on the XD-9 and Ruger P95 and the XD was flawless - this was after about 300 rds each. The Ruger malfunctioned 3 times (2 ejection malfunctions and an extraction miss) causing it to two all three times. Which all in all isn't bad for 300 rds. But the XD was perfect.

I sold the Ruger to a friend and kept the XD.

My only beef with the weapon is the inability to de-**** the weapon.

Love my Springfield M1A though

 

^ Well not all guns are exactly alike. Just because one XD don't jam doesn't mean the next one won't jam either.

 

Airguard is right. I've seen 92's jam like crazy and mine hasn't given me many problems at all. Guns are like cars, sometimes you get a lemon.

 

True - I owned a Ruger before - but never fired it as much as I do now (I go to ranges every other week both indoor and out).

Loved the feel of the Ruger but was not too impressed with its performance - so she's gone.

Going to get the Berreta 9000s now - thanks for the recommendation CLX

 

I still prefer wheel guns but I also hear that the Blackhawk line of Rugers is a great bunch of revolvers.

edit: same with the Redhawks, which are the DA revolvers.

 

9000's are cheap, too. You can pick up a used 9mm for $350. You'll be surprised at how heavy it feels in your hand and how little recoil there is because of the massive recoil spring. Trigger is smooth as silk, and it's accurate as hell thanks to it's unique style of mounting the slide to the frame. On it, the mounting rails are on the inside of the frame, not the outside. This holds the slide tight.



The recoil spring is actually two springs and it's fixed onto the guide rod. Makes cleaning a bit tricky, but stripping and assembly are a breeze. Plus, the disassembly lever automatically resets when you mount the slide for very quick reassembly.

The 9000s needs a flip-down finger extension just so you can hold it, but man does it work. With an adapter, you can also use full-size mags for extra capacity (15 rounds in 9mm, 12 in .40) If you want, I can throw a pic up of that.
