What is the best ‘fully’ managed VPS hosting?

 

This really depends on what “the best” means to you, although you’re right to look for “fully” managed hosting. I find that a lot of hosts call themselves managed but fail to deliver on it. We call those hosts “managed in name only” or “MINO” hosts. Don’t be fooled!

The great thing about managed hosting is that it’s all about the host customising their offering to suit your needs. They’ll work more like a business partner than a service provider, which means they’ll take the time to listen to your needs up front and to come back to you with a bespoke proposal. That’s why you can quite often judge the quality of a managed host by getting in touch with their support team and asking a few questions. If they don’t answer them to your satisfaction (or if they don’t answer them at all) then they’re probably not the web host for you.

Finally, remember that many hosts will also offer you a free trial or a money-back guarantee before they ask you to sign a long-term contract. Those can both be great ways to get a feel for a potential web host without needing to worry that you’ll be stuck with them if you’re not impressed.
