Don't usually drive TOO much above the speed limits (always seem to get caught by the bubble-gum machines), but.......
.
1971.......About 102 mph in my '66 Corvair Corsa (turbo) on the Harbor Fwy in L.A. (about 1:30 in the morning)
.
1986.......About 110 on I-15 coming back from Vegas in wife's '85 300ZX Turbo.

173 mph in my '97 NSX on a lonely highway between HW 16 and Ione Calif. Nobody out there, and you can see for miles in front and behind. Great road for testing your ride. (and guts..)

in my current car the fastest I've beenis 120mph....well that is not true...the fastest that I have drive was 120mph in my car....I was asleep in the backseat, woke up to see a car looking like it was standing still in the next lane...my friend was doing 140 on the northway (between Albany and Montreal)...I kindly asked him to get back down to 90mph

I posted a thread similiar to this about a year, or so, ago... MY PB is/was an indicated 282Kmph in my (then) 1993 Opel Calibra Turbo (triple Black, tinted, bone-stsock), prety much any time I wanted, while I owned it, between the years of 1996 and 2000. For thos that aren't familiar, the "Turbo" Calibra was a 2.0l, 16v, DOHC, 6-speed, AWD, 205ps (approx 215hp), 189tq, gem produced by OpelAG from about 1990-1999, I think. Unless your car said "Porsche" AND "Turbo" you were subject to being pwned, BY ME, if you cruised central W. Germany between 1996 and 2000...

Roughly 177/8mph, for those unab;e to convert km to m...
Remember them well! My dad had the Vauxhall Cavalier (Opel Ascona) with the same running gear. Four door saloon instead of the Calibra's two door coupe. Thief magnet though, so he had to get rid of it. A sixty year old bloke fighting off car thieves outside the office is not a good thing.

I usually drive like an old woman but my personal best is probably around the 130 mark. This usually only happens when I'm having the map tweaked and my tuner is sitting next to me with a laptop going 'More...more...more...more...' until I bottle it
A friend of mine, back in Germany, at the time, had a wife that worked for OpelAG in Russelsheim. He told me that OpelAG also had an "insider's" engine, a TT 3.0 V6 with something like 390hp/425tq, cost $14,000.00 US, and you HADDA know somebody who know somebody, to get one. This was about a decade ago. I went up against an Opel Ascona, once, that looked "almost" tuner, but FLAT WALKED AWAY from me in my 742i, at about 125mph. And, once, in MY Calibra, cruisin at about teh century mark, a Tigra almost peeled my paint, one noght, outside of Wurzburg... I'd love to have had THAT in my Calibra!

Could be some truth in that. It would have been around the time GM owned Lotus and they produced the Lotus Carlton. The Carlton in the UK was a very dull middle management machine a size up from the Cavalier/Ascona. Then they brought out this http://www.lotusespritworld.co.uk/Lo...usCarlton.html

4 people in the car going 125mph on I-95 near Bridgeport, CT!! This was a smokin' car!!

LOL, I'm scared of topping 80mph around there now cause the pavement quality is so bad
It was alot different then, less traffic but there were toll booths in Stratford and Darien!!
