Default UTI > Audi Academy Technician Program..

So I basically hate my job i am at now. I am a Service Manager at a small company that repair's copy machines. Its a dead end, I cant get any higher in pay, which isnt good mind you. I cant advance like I would want to. I really do not like what im doing.

I have always loved cars, and enjoy working on them. Especially Audi's. I found out this is the only car i will ever own again. So I was doing some browsing online looking for a new career. Im getting older now so I want to be in a career which I enjoy. I noticed the Univerisal Technical Institute had a Audi Program. Just wondering if anyone has been there, or has any input on this. The campus is in Arizona, and its across the US for me, since im located in Georgia.

Thank you.

I would say if u were in Mass I would ask you to work with me.. I know Financial services isn't listed, but the pay after a few years is 6 digits.
That's the problem of working for someone.. you can't get paid what u want, when you work for yourself, you get paid what your wroth, it's a good time.
sorry i didn;t answer your questions, lol

How was the classes. Were there alot of hand on learning, did you expect it to be what you were going in for? Did the audi program help you out in a big way.

In the end is it worth it opposed to a technical college for basic automobile repair that type of stuff..

I guess I have been working on cars since i was about 16. I know a great amount, but I would love to know more.

there are a few more im sure ill think of here in a bit

Well thats pretty much true to somebody thats mechanically inclined, the only time i learned something was transmission re-building.

As far as the program, the regular UTI classes are basic at best, but the elective programs are amazing. I took the regular classes with the FORD FACT elective, i learned more in one month at FORD FACT than i did for two years at UTI, so those are definately worth purchasing for an extra 6-10k.
The Academy programs: Porsche, BMW, AUDI, VW, Volvo, Jaguar ect. you have to get accepted to, there is an interview process to get into the programs and a high enough GPA is required to get into them. Kinda like getting into a university scholarship.

I had a 3.70 GPA and i got denied from BMW, which is one of the hardest programs to get into, but i got accepted into Audi which was fine with me.
Getting a 3.5 GPA really isn't that hard at UTI so don't sweat it, but getting into the academy programs is about $30,000-$50,000 worth of free training, plus your certified right out of the program. Audi guarantees a starting rate of $15 an hour, and your a certified tech right off the bat, which could take over 3 years working your way up at the dealer alone.
I started at $18 an hour in sacramento, and went up to $22 and hour in three years, i made $82,000 last year so you tell me it isn't worth it.

Thats what happens to 70% of the people that go there, they have no paitence and end up going nowhere.
