Thank you BRAC...

RE: Thank you BRAC...
I am in germany with 1 ID, they are shutting my base down, but they havent bothered to tell us where we are going yet. Most of us are going to Riley, but not my unit. They have no clue what they are gonna do with us. We are leaving in like 6 months. 1 ID is 17,000 people roughly, and they are building housing for about 2500. I am not a mathmatician, but those numbers are not adding up.

Gov. Rendell (PA's Gov. , X-mayor of Philly) took the pentagon to court over the proposed closure of the Navy base in Willow Grove. Yesterday the judge ruled in favor of Rendell and told the BRAC comm. it COULD NOT close Willow Grove.
Rendell's arguing point was that the 111th fighter wing of the PA National gaurd was also stationed at Willow Grove and ONLY the Gov. had the authority to close that base with the state's Nat. gaurd being there.
Fed. judge evidently agreed.
*note to Pentagon* -don't mess with people from Philly.... good job Ed..

Whilst the BRAC took note that they could not disband the station and Guard Unit as intended, they simply decided 'Fine. The Guard wants a Fighter Wing, they can keep their Fighter Wing. But we're still taking the base, all support infrastructure, and if we can legally do so, their airplanes as well.' It's the problem with the Guard being generally federally funded and with the name tapes saying "US Army/Air Force" and not "Pennsylvania Army/Air Force"
This is as of Friday 26th, I can't find anything more recent.

If Pennsylvania gets THEIR own Army/Air Force, I think MICHIGAN should get THEIR own Army/Air Force, too. After all, they hafta help protect the America-lite-iens, don't they?
