I'm 17, have a 1997 A6 Avant. Bought it when I got my license, 6 months ago. Paid waaay less than I should have for it (own money though). $4k. Guy just wanted to sell it, he had other cars. Had 135k on it when I bought it.

I definitely appreciate my car. Although my parents bought it for me, I am going to be buying my own gas and helping out with insurance once I can get a job, which will hopefully be pretty soon. Only 1 1/2 weeks to go...I can't wait!!

im 19, bought my audi when i was 18 as a graduation present to myself. Work 2 jobs over summer and bought it right out. Although title is in my dads name for cheaper insurance, its my car. Had to put down 85 hour weeks, it was great. landscaping from 6am-3pm then frm 5pm-1am i was assistant manager at domino's. I pay for all the mods and all repairs, which i think is BS caause my parents will pay to have my sisters car fixed but they expect me to pay for my own repairs....Lame

That does suck. My parents are making me pay for all my repairs and mods, also, if that makes you feel any better.

Ok, I'm not sure why this topic even came up. Anyone who is a member on this forum and is replying to this post is obviously an enthusiast and realizes how fortunate they are to have an Audi and is passionate about their car, regardless of whether they paid for it or if the "free Audi fairy" crapped it out her ***. If you are talking about kids who really have no idea about the car they are driving or don't value it (none of which would be reading/posting on this forum) why worry about it? Sheer jealousy is the only thing I can think of. There's a kid at my school who drives a brand new Porsche. Yeah, I'm jealous and I'm sure his parents bought it for him, but if my parents called me up and said, "Son, we'd like to give you a brand new Porsche, just for being such a swell guy," my response sure as hell wouldn't be, "Nah, I'd rather drive a beater and pay for it myself, just so I know the value of a dollar." I doubt there is anyone on this board who would turn down the offer of a free, brand new Audi.

I would defenatly say that i know the meaning of a dollar... i have had a job for 3 years and have gone through 4 cars, my first i paied half for and it was a 1989 VW Scirrocco or however its spelled, totaled it, next up was my 1990 honda prelude, i paid for it in full and then, blew the motor, then was the 1989 subaru gl, also paid for by me and it was involved in a head on accident, not my fault , and then a 1990 subaru legacy which i paid for then sold it to pay for my newest bestest car... a 2001Audi S4 its my baby, it gets a bath usualy more then twice a week, and a regular lube change every 3000 miles or so with Mobile 1 Full Synthetic, along with 93 octane food , i also am paying rent, and footing my bill through college, all while working part time god i love my job.. woo hoo ballin on a budget...

Well, I for one can say - no one has ever bought me anything.

Personally, I made the mistake of hiring my own 19 yr old son. Paid him very good money - even sold him a car (01 VW Passat - needed some new brakes bad, which he did pay for) for $500. Even though he lived with us - he was suppose to be saving up to move into a place of his own - he was always broke.

So, I withheld 50% of his weekly take home. After 3 months he had over $4000 - I gave him the money to find a place - instead he bought new rims and decided to move back to Colorado to work at a ski resort (was promised a job from a school buddy there).

That was 2 months ago - now he has no job, living with his mother and broke...

oh well... [&o]

I'm 16, I've had my license since June 17 and I've had my car since July 10. I drive a 2000 TT 1.8T which my parents bought for me (most of it at least.) I had a 10,000 dollar budget for a car so I had to pay the 1k difference between the budget and my car. I pay, gas and insurance, I pay for any modding I want to do but they do help pay for maintenance and repairs. I work 20-30 hours a week so I like to think I know the value of a dollar but, obviously I've had a pretty easy childhood and I don't think you can REALLY value something unless you know what its like to live without it.
