Teenagers - Thread 2

RE: Teenagers - Thread 2
I was going to post about rich kids getting everything they want- but then I realized something. I was spoiled when I turned 17. I'm 22 now, bought a 02 a4 3 months ago on my own because I work hard, went to a good school, blah blah blah. But, I can't say I wasn't spoiled because when I was 17(ish) my parents gave me a car. Thats right, I had the great opportunity to drive a used/abused 1988 VW Fox. Now I know what you are all thinking- bottom of VW's lineup, and it was- just on a whole new level. This car had about 180k on it, 4spd, no options, and was dented and rusted like no other. My sister had rolled this car over, we tipped it back on its wheels, jacked the roof up and put a new windshied in. It ran for about another year before the tranny went. So yeah, it may not have been a brand new porshe for my first car, but It was a car and got me around. I still washed it as frequently as I do my new audi. Gotta love it.

If I could afford to give my kid a car he loves then I would do it in a heartbeat. As long as they understand it is more of a gift and not an advantage for the taking on their part. And don't turn into cocky bastards. Just for the record, I'm 19.

i got my car a year ago at 16, i maintain it very well and appreciate it, it was 7 grand and my parents were up for getting me a new jetta for like 23 ( i wasnt down for that)... i just wish i got a 1.8TQM for beefin up, my brother and i have a 1969 Camaro for that though so im fine with the 12v, never had a problem and its comfy as hell.. oh yeah and we are restoring it after getting it for free from my grandfather because different members of my family have owned it since it was new, now we need to restore it since it was sitting the last 8 years before we got it
