Taxes... you suck!
So I am filing my taxes and found out that I am only getting $125 for federal and $14 from the state. WTF?! I usually get close to $900 from fed and $250 from state. Not only that but I have been seeing 20% taken from my paycheck each month! What gives? I thought I was going to get more back when they rape each paycheck?
Any expert tax people here? Anyone want to clue me in as to why my return is going to be so shitty and if I should claim myself differently?

At least you are getting money back and don't owe!
I recommend that if you are looking to maximize the money you get back hire a CPA. Not a tax prep place like H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt but an actual CPA. My guy works with me year round, gives advice, keeps on top of the things that I buy for work, receipts etc.
Its kind of expensive but my tax return is like 25 pages long and I get about 10 times the money back that the CPA costs me.

Mine should be relatively simple. I don't own a business but I did contract work in 2009 and still doing some in 2010. I was technically at two jobs last year. I left one in Jan and started another the same month is 2009. Whats fucked up is when I enter the info for the job I worked at through Jan only, my refund went down $150!!
What is the exemption scale for what you claim yourself for? 00 is more money up front and more money later, 01 is less money up front and less later? How does that **** work?
I have 2 on my form based on, most likely, some bad advice I didn't pay all that much attention to. I am single, claim no dependents, and am not dependent on anyone.
This is what I want for 2010: I want to get more money out of my paychecks and more money from my refund. 20% off each paycheck is absolutely terrible. Layer that on with a $125 refund at how much I make and you have one pissed off person.
Any help with be greatly appreciated. I suck with taxes and I hate them. Last year was great with turbo tax. This year it sucks.

el oh el. You definetly did something wrong there. Go back and check your steps before you file. I'm getting 2300 Fed and 1100 State, because I was overseas, but still you have to go through all the little annoying questions and follow the instructions. If someone is doing the taxes for you, get your money back from them and go to H & R block or something like that.

If you filed a 2, you had a lot less taken out of you than if you had filed a zero. File a zero, they maximize what they take out of you which will bump up what they refund. Filing a 2 means you're telling them you have two people depending on you, and less is taken out so you have more in your check to support those two people.
