Stickers on Bumpers
#11
So I went back to them today and was like look here’s the deal, I'm not going to put some cheap sticker on my painted bumper that will cause damage after being there for a year. If you’ll put in writing that you agree to repair any and all damage caused, slap it on the bumper, but if you can’t do that I'd like to talk to the head honcho and get this taken care of.
Just to add how incredibly ludicrous the rules are I got a copy of the new "parking rules"
1. Tenants are not guaranteed a parking space in front of their building
2. Tenants must pull forward into a space (no backing in) or you will be towed
3. Parking permits must attached to the back left side of the bumper of the vehicle in which the parking permit was assigned
4. Parking policies may change at any time. We will advise you accordingly.
5. If for any reason you total your car, get a bumper replacement, or get a new car you will not be issued a new permit without returning the original permit to the office first

Can't back into a parking spot!? WTF is that? I *never* pull into parking spots. I'd love to see the stats, but I am sure that a huge percentage of parking lot accidents are from people trying to back out. You literally have to back out slowly, exercising blind faith that anybody coming will notice you and stop, until you can actually see left and right beyond the cars (or hummers) parked beside you.
I'd be furious about this BS, too.

I'd order these in bulk and just keep putting them on the property manager(s) rear bumper evry time they take one off
and while i was searching for that, I some how came across this, which is pretty nice. Maybe BradTyler's new sig or avatar pic?

I understand the need to have rules and standards and stuff for parking but it seems these guys are going wayyyyyy to far. Do you have problems with crime in your complex? How are you supposed to have visitors/overnight guests? Are there tenants with more vehicles than residents (guy in my neighborhood is single, lives alone, has FOUR cars, all beaters)?
I suggest your next step be posting some notices and seeing if you can get your neighbors together to fight this. The residents should be able to exert some kind of authority. Maybe a petition or something. I dunno.

Words cannot express my anger. This is some serious bullsht. They're forcing you to deface your property. It's your car, not theirs. Are the manager and maintenance workers putting this sticker on their cars?
Is it the company higher ups or is it the manager for your specific complex? Go for the head honcho and put a sticker on their car.
I'd definitely start writing some letters and looking for a lawyer if I were you. You may even be able to get a few other residents in on it and get one lawyer to represent you.
I hate stupid people.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this is a bunch of crap. The property company owns about 15 buildings all of which are rented out to college students. They know they have the upper hand here and will just say, if you don't wanna put the sticker on then don't park in our lots.
But yeah I'm gonna go talk to the manager for the whole company tomorrow and have a little sit down. I'm not trying to be rude or cause a problem with them, I just don't think I should have to damage my car for their benefit.
One of the employees rents from them and she kept telling me how the stickers leave no damage blah blah blah and that its fine for her. Well, she drives a beater Buick Regal, not a A4 that I have babied and she isn't **** about the way her car looks haha

What I dont understand is WHY they insist it go on the bumper. The window is MUCH MORE VISIBLE. And, if you do get in a fender-bender, the odds of your window being damaged are pretty slim. Much less likely than your (plastic) bumper-cover being ripped off of the car.
That being said, odds of them backing off of their "published" policy is slim to none. You're gonna need a lawyer to effectively fight this. Start a petition, now. It will aid you when it comes to getting a lawyer... You can let the lawyer know many people might be willing to pay the legal fees.
