Speeding ticket today... can I talk myself out of this one?
#21
I had to pay $145, plus I got my license suspended for 90 days since it was my second moving offense as a minor. Just my luck that this took place about 9 hours before my 18th birthday...
Is there any way to appeal for my license back or have the suspension reduced?

Your chances are prolly somewhere between slim and none, depending on how much loot you got to throw at thr problem. You'd need a lawyer, basically, and deep pockets.
Next time, check on the ticket for how to request a re-scheduled court date. The copper generally knows when the initial date is going to be, and makes plans to be in court on that day. If they let you re-schedule, there is a greater chance that 5-OWWW will miss they date, since ALL of his tickets wont be scheduled for that date, as they were for the original court date. He hasta do a cost/benefit analysis of whether its worth it to miss a day of chasing down speeders, just to choke one; or, let you off and generate MORE loot for the county coffers.
Lesson learned, I say. Just DON'T compound the problem by getting caught DRIVING on a suspended license. I know 90 days seems like an eternity to an 18 year old, but, it's a drop in the bucket compared to the raped way you'll feel if you get popped driving on a suspended...

Don't get CAUGHT speeding, in oHIo.
Most of the states I've lived in (MI, VA, MD, CA), I believe the dirty, rotten scoundrels (no offense, Chocalot) hafta show up ta "finger" you.

Yea, it's a tad ridiculous that just a few hours would have made such a huge difference in the outcome. I don't think this is fair. I understand that this law is in place for little kids that are just starting out driving but I've been driving for two and a half years now, and I have a grip on what's safe and what isn't. Going in a straight line on a dry road with perfect visibility tends to be pretty safe last time I checked, but apparently the government really and truly believes otherwise. Isn't income tax more than enough for them? I didn't even care about the fee, $145 isn't that big a deal. But seriously, suspension of my license is just a bit excessive in this case.

That really sucks man. I gotta drive down an hour to Paris, KY next Wednesday for a court date...Cop was a complete douche, pulled me over and said I was goin 70 in a 55 when I had it on cruise control at 61. Gave me a ticket for 15 over anyway, I'm guessing cause he figured that I lived an hour away and wouldn't bother to come down and fight it. Bastard.

You might wanna try an call ans re-schedule (come up with a decent excuse, tho). Don't know if KY is a state where the cops GOTTA show, or not. Shudn't be too hard to find out. You have internet access, right?
