There really is no disadvantage to the 3-stall garage other that it's either that or a walk-out. I will not be able to afford both I dont think. We are going to the bank shortly after new years so I might have to update this thread then. Thanks for all the words of wisdom from all

I would go with option 1 if you were planing on living there for more than 10-15yrs. If not then i would go with option 2. Houses are an investment and if its going to be a fairly short term investment then you need to look at what other's will go for when its time to sell. Option 1 allows you to get what you are looking for right now but should be able to sell in 10-15yrs with minumal problems. Your mortgage will be bought down and equity will be built up allowing you a little buffer zone.

^^^ Exactly, I started thinking about it more and I realized I would only like to live in my first house for a max of 7 years so I might have to "deal" with working on my car(s) with jackstands instead of a lift.

Well, actually.... my dad is the shop manager at Billion Auto(local body shop) and was in the auto body industry for 15+ years before that, so I have a nice hook up on body work, plug I can use any one of their 12 hoists of their Auto Tech department on the weekend.
The only reason I was considering one for my house is ease and not having to wait.
