Somewhat serious question. House related
Ok, my wife and I are waiting for this new development to begin building(they're working on the streets and lot layouts now) before we go in to get a home loan and before we talk to the realtor about what floorplan and options we would like. Here is the dilema:
Option 1: We get a 3-stall garage and I make myself a kick-*** DIY guy garage equipped with a 2-pt hoist and all . I know I am thought the same thing as you are right now initially but here my second point and reasoning.
Option 2: We get only a 2-stall garage and I have a semi-sweet DIY guy garage w/ no hoist, but we get the benefits of a walk-out basement and in turn would be able to do a little nicer landscaping which would increase the future value of the house. But I would not have my hoist.
What do you guys think I should do?

He lives in South Dakota, no one's gonna buy his house no matter what...
Just kidding Badass. I love you.

Did you mean Option 1 and go for the guy garage. I do agree with Cary though, walk-out basements are a huge seller and there IS a really good market for houses in Sioux Falls, I guess it all comes down to $$

Ya. In all seriousness, it all depends on how much you wanna spend and how long you wanna live there. I'm not a pro, so I'm not gonna tell you what to do. Good luck with it, though.
