Another thing I'd like to add and it only really matters in New England mountains is I think 50% of snowboarders I see just slide on their heel side down the mountain for most of the run and scrape all the snow off. There are definately punk skiiers but there are far more punk snowboarders. Probably because it's a newer sport and more kids do it.
Skiing tricks are way cooler.

Little tipfor travelers to CO if you don't like snowboarders go to Aspen Mtn as they still do not allow and sideways sliding on their pompous(sp?) mountain.[8D]
But what ever you do, views like this are the bestreason:

nice pics!! gives me the fever!!
vail is my favorite mountain. high speed quad lifts and the snow boarders aren't bad there. there are places where you can go since that mountain is pretty spread out.

Vail is by far my favorite mountain, but I only make it that far west about 7 times a year. Getting stuck in I-70 traffic sucks and driving all the way there is definitely an all day affair. I'm usually at Keystone but Breck has a great mountain too. I was there last Tuesday and the snow was amazing. The snow this year is better than I've seen it in at least 10 years. There are 10-15ft piles of snow in the hwy medians s*** is crazy right now. All I ask is that if you're from Texas just take a bus fromDIAor fly all the way to Vail, I saw at least 4 cars wrecked on both sides of the hwy last weekall with TX plates, including an A6. Ice pwns all.

I call shenanigans I was at Aspen this winter with ~500 OSU students half of which snowboarded and we rode all 4 of there mountains, in the group there where two skiers to 4 snowboarders and we got everywhere, but the boarders got the most stuck in anything deep (didn't help it was most of our first times out west) and they also didn't like highlands that much
also as of the beginning of this year there were four mountains that still didn't allow snowboarding,( I forget there four names) but Burton had a video competition to post snowboarders illegally poaching the remaining resorts to send a message to let them come in. I know at least Toas, NM the only one of the 4 I can think of right now is letting snowboarders in next year.

You can't snowboard on Aspen Mtn. You can on Buttermilk, The Highlands and Snowmass which are part of Aspen Resort but the main mtn is off limits. Taos, Aspen and Park City, UT I believe are 3 of the 4 that don't allow it. AndKeystone only started allowing snowboarding in like '98 or '99.
