I have a 01 A6 2.7 with bout 350hp @ crank and ran it for 125k miles with NO major problems. A6's are by far my fave audi and these things are comfortable and quick. The extra pounds make a difference but minimal unless your an **** *****. If you can fine a 2.7 under 10 get it and just put dv's and a chip and your car will fly. I want to get rid of my A4. Before I can take it over 300 hp I can get an S4 or A6 over 400hp.

the 1.8t has an expensive timing belt job too. its only every 80k tho so its not bad, and you can can easily find a place that only charges ~600-700.
as for what mods to do, click the noob link in my sig.
headshok2002- the 99.5 doesn't really have stronger internals. there's a 1mm difference in the wrist pins but thats it. its just got a better flowing head, whereas the 01 has a k03s and wideband o2 stock. it'll put out more power on the stock turbo, you can use lemmiwinks to adjust timing and whatnot, and not have to worry about running too rich or lean. its actually a better choice for those sticking with the stock turbo, than pre-00. just dont get a 2000, thats the worst year.
