yeah i have a s4 2.7T
it definatly has the edge with power but the A6 doesnt really have parts made specifically for it so you could run into some issues
definatly get the 1.8T you can make those things really quick

Get the 99.5... the 20 extra ponies of the 01 aren't worth it. Just get the 99.5 and mod it. After you start modding, the variable valve timing of the 01 won't be missed anyhow... but you'll aprpeciate the stronger internals of the 99.5 once you've started to mod.
If you're on a budget, the 2.7T is never the right choice. Expensive motor to maintain.

heres the 2.7t with prob a little over 1800 in mods. If you're on a budget then you pretty much have no choice to get the a4, but food for thought.

the 1.8t has an expensive timing belt job too. its only every 80k tho so its not bad, and you can can easily find a place that only charges ~600-700.
as for what mods to do, click the noob link in my sig.
headshok2002- the 99.5 doesn't really have stronger internals. there's a 1mm difference in the wrist pins but thats it. its just got a better flowing head, whereas the 01 has a k03s and wideband o2 stock. it'll put out more power on the stock turbo, you can use lemmiwinks to adjust timing and whatnot, and not have to worry about running too rich or lean. its actually a better choice for those sticking with the stock turbo, than pre-00. just dont get a 2000, thats the worst year.
