Hey, im totally new to this (firstpost ever)and i know i want an audi...But what i'm tryin to figure out is, between a 1.8t a4 and a 2.7t a6, which has more go-fast ability? Both stock and with upgrades. Any help'd be great! Thanks!

 

1.8T has a lot more potential

The 2.7t has way more potential for some jaw dropping power(make sure u get a manual) when going stage3+ ko4 etc, I too was pondering between the 1.8t and 2,7t, i drove both and the 2.7t definately has more pickup from 0-60, and more room which is always nice. Sure there are many aftermarket options for the 1.8t but there are plenty also for the 2.7t, just do a bit of research and go test drive some yourself.

 

I'd have to agree with the 2.7 as it has a lot more power potential IMO. You have two more cylinders, more displacement, and an extra turbo. Sure the A6 is heavier but I still believe the 2.7 can be quicker. But what year 1.8 are you talking? B5 or B6? I might opt for the B6 but I do love the 2.7!

 

Wow! I thought it'd be days before i'd get this much imput! Thanks! And about the year of 1.8t i'd get from what i've read, the99 1/2 would be the best option... But the 20 extra horses from the 01+ would also be nice to have...

 

The only thing you might want to know is; i'm on a budget [&o]8000 max! and its got to have 100,000 or less miles on it. IF that helps in your advice giving.

 

the 1.8t is way cheaper to mod. not to mention its an a6 he's talkin about not an s4. and the 1.8t will be better on gas, insurance, and maintenance.

 

With your budget in mind a 1.8T would be the better option. The a6 is nice but its just too hefty, an S4 with the same 2.7T engine is more performance oriented. Plus maintenance on the 2.7t would cost considerably more.
