cl, are you joking?! the tranny is seriously in the front???? that's def one the most ridiculous things i've heard in a while. so you basically have to pull the motor to replace a belt....that's hella cool, i'm getting one tomorrow.

jd, just because gm bought them doesn't mean anything's changed as far as production. i'm pretty sure the whole assembly process hasn't changed at all, nor has the location of their factories. it's not like they're putting chevy engines or any other gm components on it, they just own it...not that chevy is a bad make. i have an 89 blazer with 270k miles on the original motor.

not 100% but from what i've heard the from my father he works over at saab retired driver but he was talking to the tech's and that motor is a GM built design and it is all trouble I don't have any facts on this it is just word of mouth

if GM owns them , then GM mgmt. makes their decisions (especially when it would come to $$) ..
so if John (I build crap) Chevy says "save $50 per car and put in that crappy part instead of the quality one" (a very GM mindset), then Saab will do just that..

look their looks may have come around but it's stil a vehicle built buy GM ....
and if you've seen anything on the news recently about GM, they are in SERIOUS financial problems... there is NO WAY i would buy a vehicle being produced by not only an American car company that has been notorious for producing crap, but one that is in financial hardships at that....
your asking for a lemon
