Definitely the old M3. The new one is... well, very different.

Ya thats a 2001 BMW btw... and it only has 330HP compared to the RS4's 420HP. The pissing contest is never going to end (i hope) though as long as people buy.

The new M3 has a 4.0L V8 that has individual throttle bodies for each cylinder, o2 sensors in the spark plugs, a redline of 8250RPM's and close to as much HP as the RS4. As a sedan i take the RS4, as a Coupe i take the M3.

What im waiting for is RS5 vs M3 Coupe, the M3 is over 400HP and the RS5 should be even more but with some loss due to the AWD.... That will be the coupe matchup IMO

 

As these 2 companies shape and influence each other i think BMW needs to and is ramping up the M cars (their high performance line) to compete with audis RS line. If M cars compete with S line cars BMW loses.

 

Wouldn't the RS5 be better matches with the M5?

I think if anything, Audi needs to step up with an RS3 and show their a** a bit with that coupe.

Forgot all about the M6. Like I said, I can't keep up with BMW's 8 million car variants very well lol.

But I still wish Audi would make a beast of and RS3, or at least an RS4 coupe.

 

The RS5 would be a GT not a sport coupe. Rumour has it an audi-porche R4 coupe is in the works, and will be a M coupe competitor, so we'll see.

 

Now THAT sounds sexy!
