The word "Ricer" started out in the late 70's early 80's as a word used by Harley riders to describe the influx of Japanese bike riders. It adapted in the 90's to describe Japanese hot rods, and eventually, to describe the ricers we know and love today. However, since todays modern ricer encomasses as many domestic cars (Cavaliers, Sunfires, Neons, etc) as Imported cars, the "ricer" tag is somewhat outdated. Ricer can apply even to high end cars, domestic or imported. "Ricer" now encompasses any car that has untasteful or tacky aftermarket additions to the look of the car that disproportionately resemble the performance of the car, be it through body kits, stickers, etc. There is a definitive look to ricers that isn't always explainable through words, but it is, nonetheless, definitive.
